Friday Feature: Reggae and DnB mix from Sammy Senior

Just a few days ago, New Zealand DJ Sammy Senior released ‘Mi Sensei 2’, the long-anticipated follow-up to a mixtape of the same name a couple of years ago.

Fans of Sammy Senior will be delighted to hear the familiar ragga, roots reggae, dub and drum ‘n’ bass sounds present in the mix’s predecessor as well as in other works by the artist.

Expect an hour’s relaxed listening to some iconic tracks from the genres, such as ‘Sex Machine’ by Shaggy around 15 minutes in, and ‘Murder She Wrote’ by Chaka Demus and Pliers, before an increased d’n’b presence adds a bit of spice to the mix around the last 20 minutes. A link for the free download is available on Sammy Senior’s Mixcloud.

The first two, which demonstrate the importance of hip-hop as an influence on the artist, have been eagerly featured on TMB before.
