IT’S been three years since duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis released their stellar critically and commercial successful debut album The Heist. Since then we’ve heard practically no new music from the ‘Same Love’ and ‘Thrift Shop’ creators, however that changed a few days ago when the duo dropped new single ‘Growing Up (Sloane’s Song) feat. Ed Sheeran)’ an ode to Macklemore’s newborn baby girl.
‘Growing Up (Sloane’s Song)’ is a classic Macklemore song, more in the ‘Same Love’ self-reflective and intimate style compared to party starters such as ‘Can’t Hold Us’. The new song finds Macklemore dishing out sage advice to his daughter while the hugely talented Ed Sheeran stops by to deliver a stellar chorus that everyone will be singing soon enough. All this takes place over some incredible production by one of the most underrated producers around, Ryan Lewis. Often the overlooked member of the duo, Ryan Lewis has never had a bad day at the office his production is unique and always on point, this is evident once again throughout ‘Growing Up (Sloane’s Song)’ which definitely has similar production vibes to ‘Same Love’ which is definitely a good thing.
Hopefully this means a new Macklemore & Ryan Lewis album is on the way to follow up the highly successful debut The Heist.
