THIS morning wasn’t one for the history scrolls. Bleak and grey, I found myself up too early in a decidedly unrewarding tutorial on macroeconomics. Admittedly not the biggest astronomy enthusiast, I still found myself thinking, “I’m missing the much-hyped solar event of the decade for this!”. Fast forward nine hours however, I’ve moved on from the pain of missing what was probably a very average eclipse, and Friday has faithfully delivered the bubbling, anticipatory mood that comes with the eager expectation of a frivolous night ahead.
I’m lucky enough to be seeing Parisian DJ Breakbot tonight at the ever-vibrant and uniquely weird Cirque Du Soul event in Bristol, so it’d be rude not to put up a sexy boiler room disco mix of his from back in 2013.
I can’t wait to hear the usual uplifting blend of old and new disco later tonight, and Cirque Du Soul doesn’t often disappoint. With another event already organised for early June (perfectly placed at the end of the exam period), tonight guarantees to remind why ‘burlesque, bass and uninhibited bohemia” – as well as world class DJs – has seen the event’s popularity and reputation explode since being launched only a couple of years ago.
