Rock’s coolest 45-year old and Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl promised that the break at the end of the Wasting Light tour wasn’t the end for the Seattle icons. And thank goodness for that!
I cannot stress how important ‘Something From Nothing’ is in terms of the eagerly anticipated album Sonic Highways, but I will try my best.
Taking the song as a whole, it’s not that BIG a first single in terms of power, like ‘The Pretender’ was to Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace or ‘Best of You’ was to In Your Honor, but that isn’t a bad thing. For a start, the pacing of the track is a subtle teaser to what – I hope – is going to be another heavy, riff-powered album. It builds to the dramatic cries of Grohl who sounds just as clinical as previous tracks. It can be said that Grohl and co. are just toying with our emotions.
But fear not rock fans, your wait will not be too long! Sonic Highways has a release date of November 10th so keep the date in your diary, Instagram a countdown, tattoo it to the dog, just make sure to get this album!
‘Something From Nothing’ can be heard right here on The Music Brewery!
