Holding a fairly unique space as an all girl garage group, The Franklys made their debut last winter with a self titled five track EP filled with all the energy and carefree verve a rock band’s introduction to the world should possess.
In fact The Franklys have been around slightly longer than that, extensively touring venues both in their hometown, London, and on foreign soil including East coast America and Northern Europe.
This global reach is helped by the band’s multinational diversity -in addition to home grown Zoë Biggs, drummer Nicole Pinto is American, whilst lead vocals and guitar are played respectively by the Swedish pair Jen Ahlkvist and Fanny Broberg.
‘What You Said’, the four piece’s upcoming single set to be released on October 13th, is everything we’ve come to expect from The Franklys. Hostile and frantic, it weighs in at just over three minutes of abuse to a deluded lover. Luring you in with its peaceful and apologetic opening, normal service is quickly resumed. Ahlkvist is quickly shouting lines of “darling you’ve got to go away” to the punchy backbeat that gives the song a punky feel.
Like what you hear? Then you can listen to their EP in full below, it will not disappoint.
