Today is Thursday and that can mean only one thing, THROWBACK THURSDAY!!!!!!!!! So for this weeks classic tunes I thought I would go with two wildly different tunes. One from 1964 and the other slightly more recent from 2003.
Right let’s dive in with our first track, coming from American classic duo Simon and Garfunkel. “The Sound of Silence” is a genuine timeless classic tune, it may be the duo’s second biggest hit after “Bridge Over Troubled Water” but for me “The Sound Of Silence” cannot be beaten, I had heard this song for years and never knew who it was by, but finally I found it (good news all round). I’m sure you’ll all know it, so hopefully this just refreshes your memory of a brilliant tune!
The second record I have chosen is an absolute cracker from the godfather of Grime, Dizzee Rascal and his belter “Fix Up, Look Sharp”. For those unaware Dizzee Rascal is an artist who put grime on the map and brought it to the mainstream in the UK, with his fast-paced aggressive flow accompanied by some truly epic beats the whole Boy in the Corner album was an absolute triumph and an instant classic. Heavy samples from from “The Big Beat” by rock musician Billy Squier are complimented by some classic boom-bap drums that hammer the whole tune home. For those from the UK listen to this classic again and for those who aren’t discover someone new who will blow your mind!!
